This is part of my collection of ads from Oldsmobile from 1948 to 1950. Note: The ads are sorted according to publishing date (if known). Car model years changed in October, so it is possible that cars of a model year show up in an overview of the previous year (when the ad was published). Example: A 1951 model is featured in November 1950 and therefore would show up in the 1950 overview.
These years mark a transition from "early-styling" of the prewar years to the "modern" styling, that Oldsmobile combined with the newly developed "Rocket" engine. The first redesigned cars that appeared in 1948 had the new styling, recognized basically by "integrated" front fenders, but still used the old inline-6 or 8 engine. Starting 1949 Oldmobile introduced the famous "Rocket" engine. Cars of the "88" and "98" line were equipped with this new powerplant.
